The short version
As of the effective date above:
- This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
- It carries no advertising trackers, no social media pixels, and no embedded third-party players.
- We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
- If you write to us through a form, what you send is emailed to Makan Mostafavi so that we can reply. If it cannot be delivered the page says so, and nothing you typed is kept. That is the only personal information this site asks for.

What we collect, why, and who receives it

The forms also carry a hidden field that people never see. It helps us reject automated spam and collects nothing about you. The site has no accounts, takes no payments, and does not buy information about visitors from anyone.
Cookies, online tracking, and Do Not Track
As of the effective date above, this site sets no cookies and uses no local or session storage in your browser. Every file a page loads comes from makanmostafavi.com, the fonts included, so reading this site contacts no other company’s server. There are no advertising pixels, no embedded players, no session replay, and no chat widget. The one piece of code here that is not ours is the page view counter described above. Our hosting provider writes it and this domain serves it. Each page view is posted to an address on this domain, which our hosting provider reads. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to accept or reject. If any of that is going to change, we will update this policy before the change takes effect.
We do not allow other companies to collect information about your activity over time and across different websites when you use this site. Because the site does not track visitors, it responds the same way whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal or a Global Privacy Control signal.
Service providers
Two companies process information for us, under their own terms, only to run this site:
- Vercel
- Hosts the site, keeps standard server logs, and provides the cookieless page view statistics described above. Vercel’s privacy notice
- Resend
- Delivers the email that carries a form submission to our inbox. Resend’s privacy policy
We do not give personal information to anyone else, except where the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.
Links to other sites
The site links out to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X and LinkedIn, to news outlets that have written about the work, and to a map service on the real estate page. Those links open those companies’ own sites, which have their own privacy policies. We do not embed their players or buttons here, so they receive nothing from your visit unless you follow a link.
How long we keep it
A note sent through a form stays in the receiving inbox for as long as the conversation or the business relationship needs it, and is deleted on request. Our providers keep delivery records and server logs for limited periods under their own retention settings. Both providers are United States companies, and the part of the site that handles a form runs in the United States. Their networks are worldwide, so a request from outside the country can be handled outside it.
Your choices and requests
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Use the contact form and choose “Privacy request”. We respond within 45 days, and we will not treat you differently for asking. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you before we act on it. If you need this policy in another format, ask and we will provide it.
California residents
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as California law defines those terms. We have not done either in the past twelve months.
We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes (California Civil Code section 1798.83). California residents may ask us about this once a year through the contact form, and we answer within 30 days.
Children
This site is written for business audiences. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures suited to the limited information we collect. The site is served only over an encrypted connection, and form submissions travel encrypted to our server and to our email provider. No method of sending or storing information is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page, change the effective date at the top, and record what changed in the list below. A change will not apply to information we already hold unless you agree to it.
